A coal-covered dog leads to another world
The story begins when the Nohara family spends the summer in the countryside of Akita Prefecture. After Shiro returns with coal dust on his fur, Shin-chan follows the trail and finds a strange train. It carries him to Coal Town, a bustling place whose old-fashioned industrial surroundings contrast with the greenery of the family's summer home.
New acquaintances, unusual inventions, and curious missions gradually introduce the town's secrets. A mysterious girl is also part of its unanswered questions. These events unfold through Shin-chan's childlike perspective, keeping everyday encounters connected to the broader mystery rather than separating the story from the activities around him.
Fishing, insects, and a vegetable garden
In the Akita countryside, Shin-chan can fish by the river, collect insects in the forest, and grow vegetables in the family garden.
