WNEM TV5 Weather provides location-based storm and forecast information to help users follow weather conditions for their area. The app can use the device’s location for local forecasts, while saved locations let users keep track of places such as a workplace or vacation destination.
Forecasts for selected locations
Location access allows the app to tailor forecast information to where the user is. Users can also bookmark multiple locations, making forecasts for other places they care about available in the app. This supports checking conditions at home and at saved destinations without relying only on the current location.
Weather alerts and notifications
Users can enable notifications for weather-related updates and select the types of alerts they want to receive. The source gives severe thunderstorm warnings and snow alerts as examples of categories, and also mentions notices about tornado warnings and school closings. These notifications are intended to share information about breaking news and critical weather-related incidents. The available details do not specify alert delivery timing or how alert categories are configured.
Video forecasts from the weather team
The app includes video forecasts from the WNEM Weather Team, offering commentary and analysis about current and future weather conditions. These videos complement the location-based forecasts with a team-provided explanation of the weather. Together with saved locations and selectable notifications, they give users several documented ways to follow weather information in the app.
