StorySave is an app that saves photos, videos, posts, stories, and live streams from Instagram users to an Android device. It addresses Instagram's restriction on direct downloads by letting users press and hold on content in a post to save it, whether or not they follow the account. The app also organizes saved files into separate folders named after each account for easier viewing in the gallery. Users can browse content from accounts they follow or use the search button to find and save material from other Instagram users. Saved items are added to the device gallery automatically. The source notes that permission from friends should be requested before saving their content. Recent updates include the ability to press and hold in the stories grid to select multiple items for download at once, a red New badge for unviewed stories, settings to control the unread count and badge display, an option to mark all stories as viewed, and a star icon for managing favorites. Some user reviews highlight the folder organization by account as convenient, while others note occasional problems viewing or saving live streams.
How does StorySave handle saving content from accounts a user does not follow?
The app provides a search button in the toolbar that lets users locate any Instagram account and then save their posts, stories, or live streams. This works without requiring a follow relationship. Once saved, the files appear in the gallery inside folders that match the account names.
What organization features does StorySave offer for downloaded files?
Files are placed in separate folders named after each Instagram account so content from different users stays distinct. Stories and posts from one account go into one folder while material from another account goes into a different folder, making it simple to locate specific items later in the device gallery.
Which recent changes affect how stories are viewed and managed?
Users can now select multiple stories at once by pressing and holding in the grid view. A red New badge appears on unviewed stories, and settings let users show or hide the unread count and badge. An additional menu option marks all stories in the grid as viewed. The icon for adding or removing favorites changed to a star, and the ability to tap a profile picture in the feed list to view activity was removed.
What limitations are mentioned for live streams and overall use?
Saving live streams sometimes does not work. The app depends on Instagram, so its functions can be affected by changes on that platform. One review states that live streams are not visible in the app for some users.
