ShipAtlas by Maritime Optima helps users follow vessels and explore maritime information, including port activity, sea routes, and marine conditions. Its features bring AIS position data, search tools, route calculations, and activity notifications together.
What vessel and maritime information does the app provide?
The app presents vessel positions using processed AIS data gathered from more than 700 satellite and terrestrial senders. It also covers vessel movements, port activity and congestion, sea routes, marine weather, ice conditions, piracy zones, and marine maps. This information can help users follow ships while keeping relevant port and environmental conditions in view.
How can users search for vessels and ports?
Vessel searches can use a ship's name, IMO number, or MMSI number, while port searches can use port names. The description also identifies vessel specifications and port characteristics as additional details for refining a search. These options serve users looking for a particular vessel or port rather than only browsing general maritime information.
What does the route calculator estimate?
The sea route calculator estimates arrival time, distance, time at sea, and bunker consumption. It can calculate a route from a vessel's AIS position to a port or between ports, making it relevant to users who need these estimates for a maritime route.
Can users follow selected vessels and port activity?
Users can create and manage vessel lists based on their search criteria, then receive notifications about vessel and port activity. The listed notification function is intended for updates on those activities; the source does not specify notification controls or delivery settings.
