NewsOnAir brings live radio, news and Doordarshan programming together, making it possible to follow broadcasts and current affairs through one app. Its catalogue includes more than 230 All India Radio channels across major Indian regional languages, alongside live television and news in text, audio and video. Listeners can also explore podcasts and videos, while news alerts and a 24x7 live news radio channel offer further ways to keep up with coverage. A channel search based on geo-mapping helps users find live radio stations.
Radio and news in different formats
The live radio selection spans more than 230 AIR channels, with regional-language programming among the options. For news, the app offers text, audio and video coverage, plus notification alerts. These formats let users follow updates by reading or listening, while the dedicated live news radio channel provides a continuous broadcast option.
Live television, programmes and ground reports
NewsOnAir carries live streams of DD News, DD India, DD Kisan and RSTV. Its video offering also includes Doordarshan serials, news, current-affairs coverage and programmes from its channels. Ground report videos from remote parts of the country provide another way to view coverage beyond studio broadcasts.
Podcasts and practical features
AIR programmes are available as podcasts for listening at a time that suits the user, with a variety of podcasts in multiple languages. The app also has a night mode for reading, Twitter streams, and an option to share news with friends and family. These features complement the live broadcasts with ways to browse, follow and pass along content.
CDs and DVDs
Alongside its digital broadcasts and videos, NewsOnAir includes an online store where users can purchase CDs and DVDs. The store is a separate part of the app’s mix of listening, viewing and news features.
