NERV Disaster Prevention is a Lifestyle app built around disaster prevention information. According to its description, it provides real-time earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption, and emergency warnings, along with weather-related information such as forecasts and landslide details. The main purpose is to bring these alerts together in one place so users can follow developing conditions.
How alerts reach users
The app sends push notifications based on the user's location and the urgency of the situation. Non-urgent information arrives as silent notifications, while critical alerts are used for imminent dangers. The description states that earthquake and tsunami warnings will force the device to sound, even when it is set to silent or do not disturb mode.
Information source and distribution
The description says the app uses proprietary technology and a leased line connected to the Japan Meteorological Agency, and presents this as the basis for the fastest information distribution in Japan. This is the developer's own description of the app's design, and the source does not provide independent measurements of delivery timing. The stated goal is to give users timely updates so they can assess the situation and decide what to do.
Interactive map
The interactive map can be zoomed in on the user's location or panned across the country. The description lists cloud cover, typhoon forecast areas, tsunami warning areas, and the scale and intensity of an earthquake as items that can be viewed on the map. This allows users to see how conditions are distributed geographically.
Accessibility design
The description mentions a barrier-free design. It includes color schemes that are easier to distinguish for people with color blindness, and it uses a large, clear font to make text easier to read.
Optional Supporters' Club
The app offers an optional membership scheme called the Supporters' Club. Members contribute a monthly fee toward the app's development and operating costs. The description presents membership as optional and says it helps sustain and improve the app.
Privacy statement
The description states that the developer prioritizes user privacy and security. It does not, however, describe specific data practices or protective measures, so users who want those details will need to consult other information provided with the app.
