Genyoutube is an Android app for browsing and playing online videos or songs, then saving selected content for offline playback. It is intended for people who want to keep media on their device rather than rely on a continuing connection, including when online viewing is affected by buffering or when content is no longer available. Before a download, users can choose a quality to suit their storage space and data needs. The app also describes playlist downloads, previews, a built-in player, and browsing and organization tools.
How do downloads and quality choices work?
To save an item, the supplied description says to open a video, tap Save, choose a quality, and let the download run in the background. Selecting a smaller file can help when phone storage is limited, while choosing higher quality is an option when there is room for a larger download. The app is also described as supporting multiple simultaneous downloads, rather than limiting users to one file at a time.
Available formats listed include M4A, MP4, 3GP, WebM, and 3D. The description also mentions converting YouTube videos to MP3 for offline listening. Actual format and quality options may depend on the content being downloaded; the source does not specify that every option is available for every video.
Which content sources and browsing tools are mentioned?
The app is presented as supporting downloads from a range of sites. Named platforms include YouTube, Spotify, Gaana, Jiosaavn, Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram. It also offers keyword search and category browsing, with music and movies given as examples, plus a trending-video area. Users can group content into categories to make saved items easier to find later.
Playlist downloading, preview functionality, and a built-in video player are also listed. These features bring browsing, checking, and playback into the app’s stated workflow, though the source does not explain which sites support each function or how playlists are handled across platforms.
What does the listing say about performance and limitations?
The description gives an install size of around 12 MB and says the app is designed to run on lower-end Android phones with limited RAM. It describes downloads as high-speed and attributes a claim of speeds up to 10 times those of similar apps to multi-threaded downloading. This is a claim in the listing, not an independently verified comparison.
The source notes that some videos may not play because of YouTube copyright restrictions. It also says the app is unavailable on the official Google Play Store and must be obtained from a third-party source. The listing warns that third-party copies may contain malicious software or viruses and mentions that ads may affect performance; these are relevant cautions when assessing the download source and app experience.
Who might find Genyoutube useful?
Genyoutube may suit Android users looking for a way to save supported videos or songs, choose file quality, and organize items for later playback. Its format choices, playlist downloads, and MP3 conversion are relevant to people who want both video and audio options. Those considering it should also weigh the stated copyright restrictions, advertisements, and third-party distribution against their needs.
