CoreIRC Mod is an IRC client for connecting to multiple configured networks over SSL and managing conversations from one Android app. Its main focus is multi-network IRC communication, supported by authentication choices, DCC file receiving, and notification controls that can be adjusted for each network.
Manage multiple IRC network connections
The app supports connections to multiple IRC networks over SSL. Users can configure different networks and switch between them as needed, keeping separate IRC communities available within the same client. SSL is documented as providing encryption for these connections.
Choose an available authentication method
CoreIRC Mod supports several ways to authenticate to configured servers. IRCv3 SASL options include SASL PLAIN, SASL EXTERNAL, and SASL SCRAM-SHA-256. The app also supports traditional NickServ authentication, so the available method can depend on the server and the user's configured account.
Receive files through DCC
For file sharing with other IRC users, CoreIRC Mod supports receiving files through the DCC, or Direct Client-to-Client, protocol. The documented transfer support includes resume capability, allowing an interrupted receiving process to continue rather than requiring the transfer to start again. This applies to shared documents, images, and multimedia files described by the source.
Set notification rules for important messages
The notification system can be configured separately for each network. Multiple rules may be created using a channel, sender, or message as the basis for deciding which IRC activity should generate a notification. This gives users control over the messages and conversations they want to monitor.
Additional chat conveniences
Alongside its core connection and messaging tools, the app provides inline URL previews and an option to share what the user is currently listening to with popular music platforms. These extras support link-based conversations and music-related chat without changing the app's central IRC purpose.
