Cipher VPN is an Android VPN app for routing internet use through a network of servers, with the stated aims of encrypting data and masking the user's IP address. Its described functions address privacy while browsing, using public Wi-Fi, and accessing content that may be restricted by location.
What does Cipher VPN do to a connection?
The app description says it uses encryption protocols to protect data and replaces the user's IP address with one from its global server network. These are presented as privacy features for online activities; the source does not specify the encryption protocols or provide technical details about how connections are handled.
Can it be used to access location-restricted content?
Cipher VPN is described as providing access to blocked websites, content, and streaming platforms through servers in different countries. The source also suggests connecting to servers in other locations for localized content. It does not identify particular countries, services, or content that will be accessible.
Is it intended for public Wi-Fi and streaming?
The description identifies public Wi-Fi as a use case, stating that the VPN encrypts data on those networks. It also presents browsing and streaming as activities the app is intended to support, and claims that its optimized servers provide fast connections. No measured speeds or performance results are supplied, so the source does not establish how quickly it will work in a particular situation.
What details about the service are provided?
The description refers to a global server network and says users can connect to servers in different countries. It does not give a server list, connection controls, or detailed setup requirements. The listed version is 1.0.15, while the Android requirement field does not provide a usable minimum version.
